MALIA TAYLOR

Malia Taylor

Bio

Malia took up screenwriting in 2012, as a single-mom raising 4 kids in Los Angeles. Her writing, very much like her life story, amplifies female voices with a focus on overcoming challenges that lead to personal transformation. Inspired by her great-grandfather, Stanner E.V. Taylor, one of the most prolific storyline writers of the silent film era, Malia's writing invokes the authentic human experience. Malia writes character-driven stories, amplifying female voices, queer identity, and caretaking — often using humor and intimacy to explore illness, grief, and belonging. Her mission is to Heal the world through the Power of Storytelling. Over the years she has honed her craft, completing multiple features and developing several other projects, while working full-time as a Massage Therapist & Healer. Now that her four adult children have launched their own artistic pursuits, Malia is shifting her energies to focus fully on filmmaking. In 2025, Malia produced a narrative short and a horror short film both currently entering the festival film circuit. She is slated to write, direct & produce her first short film in 2026, among other projects.
